Meet Natashya

Natashya Jacob is a Chicago-based painter working primarily with oil paints. Her work blends expressive, representational, and surreal styles, often creating scenes that feel familiar yet infused with a sense of imagination and quiet reflection. She paints interiors, still lifes, and animals, exploring storytelling, personal revelations, and the emotional currents of transformation and growth. Color is central to her practice, as she is fascinated by the ways colors interact to create energy, mood, and harmony within a piece.

Born in the United Arab Emirates to Sri Lankan parents, Natashya immigrated to the U.S. at age eleven. Her multicultural upbringing fostered curiosity, adaptability, and resilience—qualities that continue to inform her artistic perspective and the way she approaches her work.

A self-taught artist, Natashya returned to painting during the pandemic, developing a practice that balances reflection, intentionality, and experimentation. Since 2020, she has completed private commissions, created works for a healthcare business, and exhibited in group shows across Chicago.
